How to Start an LLC in Georgia in 6 Steps

  1. Pick a name. It must include “Limited Liability Company,” “LLC” or “L.L.C.” and be different from other names on record. You can reserve a name first if you want to hold it.
  2. Choose a registered agent. Georgia requires an agent with a physical Georgia address who can accept legal papers during business hours.
  3. File Articles of Organization (Form CD 030). File on eCorp and pay $110. You list the LLC name, principal office address, registered agent and organizer.
  4. Write an operating agreement. Georgia does not require you to file it, but banks and platforms usually ask for it.
  5. Get an EIN. The IRS issues it for free. We apply for owners without an SSN.
  6. Register with the Georgia Department of Revenue if needed. If you sell taxable goods in Georgia, you need a sales tax number through the Georgia Tax Center. Registration is free.
