LLCPronto vs Stripe Atlas: Which Fits Your Business?
Looking for a Stripe Atlas alternative? Stripe Atlas is Stripe’s own incorporation product. It is excellent for startups that want a Delaware company and plan to raise money. Many small businesses and freelancers outside the US are better served by a Wyoming or New Mexico LLC with lower yearly costs. Here is how the two compare.
Stripe Atlas costs $500 one time plus $100 a year for its registered agent, and forms companies in Delaware only, where an LLC pays a $400 annual tax. LLCPronto forms LLCs in any state, including New Mexico ($190, no annual report) and Wyoming ($199). Choose Atlas for a venture-backed Delaware C corporation; choose LLCPronto for a low-cost LLC you can still use with Stripe.

You Do Not Need Atlas to Use Stripe
A common belief is that only Atlas companies can use Stripe. That is not true. Stripe accepts any US-registered company, wherever the owner lives. An LLC formed with LLCPronto gets its EIN, US address and bank account, then applies for Stripe US directly.
Founders in countries Stripe does not support often use exactly this route. See our guides for Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria and India.
When Stripe Atlas Is the Better Choice
- You are building a startup that will raise venture capital and need a Delaware C corporation
- You want founder equity, vesting and 83(b) filings handled for you
- You value the Stripe credits and partner discounts that come with Atlas
When LLCPronto Is the Better Choice
- You are a freelancer, agency, e-commerce seller or small SaaS that will not raise venture capital
- You want lower yearly costs than Delaware’s $400 LLC tax
- You want a US mailing address and EIN included in one price
- You want WhatsApp support and, in Pakistan, to pay in rupees
A Stripe Atlas Alternative for Small Businesses
Most founders searching for a Stripe Atlas alternative are not raising venture capital. They are freelancers, agencies, online sellers and small SaaS founders who want a US LLC that works with Stripe, without Delaware’s $400 yearly LLC tax. For them, a New Mexico or Wyoming LLC formed with LLCPronto does the same job for Stripe at a lower yearly cost.
How It Works Without Atlas
- We form your LLC in the state you choose and get your EIN, with or without an SSN
- You receive your formation documents, EIN letter and US mailing address
- You open a US business bank account that accepts your profile
- Your LLC applies to Stripe US directly with its EIN, address and bank account
If you later raise money, you can still form or convert to a Delaware C corporation at that point. Many founders start lean with an LLC first.
