Arizona LLC Formation: Start Your Arizona LLC for $50
To start an LLC in Arizona, you file Articles of Organization with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) and pay $50. Arizona has no annual report for LLCs. Some new LLCs must also publish a notice in a newspaper. It depends on where your statutory agent is. We handle both steps for you.
Quick Facts
Arizona is cheap to start and cheap to keep. You pay $50 once. There is no annual report after that. The one step to watch is publication. If your agent is outside Maricopa and Pima counties, you must publish a short notice in a local newspaper.
How to Start an LLC in Arizona in 6 Steps
- Choose a name. It must include “Limited Liability Company,” “LLC,” “L.L.C.” or a similar ending and be different from names already filed with the ACC.
- Appoint a statutory agent. Arizona calls the registered agent a “statutory agent.” It needs a physical Arizona address. The agent also signs an acceptance form.
- File Articles of Organization. File online with the Arizona Corporation Commission and pay $50. You also file a Member/Manager Structure attachment listing who runs the LLC.
- Publish a notice if required. Your agent may be outside Maricopa or Pima County. If so, publish a notice in a local newspaper three times. You have 60 days after approval.
- Write an operating agreement and get your EIN. The operating agreement is not filed with the state. The EIN is free from the IRS.
- Get a TPT license if you sell. Arizona charges transaction privilege tax instead of a normal sales tax. If you sell taxable goods, register with the Arizona Department of Revenue.
Arizona LLC Cost
These are Arizona’s state costs. Our service fee is separate, and we confirm the full price before you pay.
| Item | Cost | When |
|---|---|---|
| Articles of Organization | $50 | Once, at formation |
| Newspaper publication | Varies by paper | Within 60 days, only outside Maricopa and Pima |
| Annual report | $0 (not required) | Never |
| TPT license | State fee applies | Only if you sell taxable goods |
| Statutory agent | Paid service if you have no Arizona address | Every year |
If your statutory agent is in Maricopa County (Phoenix area) or Pima County (Tucson area), you skip the newspaper step. The ACC publishes your information online instead. Most agent services use a Phoenix address. So most of our clients skip this step.
Arizona Publication Requirement
Only a few states ask new LLCs to publish in a newspaper. In Arizona, it depends on your agent’s address:
- Maricopa or Pima County: no publication needed
- Any other county: publish a notice three times in a newspaper in that county, within 60 days
- Cost: set by the newspaper, often around $100
We use a Phoenix statutory agent address, so publication is usually not needed.
